Given the multitude of online business opportunities available out there, it makes sense to go shopping with a list. That list should be in the form of essential criteria that any prospective opportunity must meet if you are to proceed with it.
The criteria that I used to evaluate business opportunities when I was first starting out in this industry are as follows…
- I decided that for me to take an online business opportunity seriously, it would need to have a commission structure or compensation plan in place that would allow me to earn $100,000 within the first year. I was prepared to work hard, so I needed to know that I would be rewarded sufficiently for doing so.
The figure that you aim for is up to you; just make sure that it is realistic i.e. somewhere between $1,000 – $250,000. All that matters is that you have a particular figure in mind, as this will allow you to focus your attention on just opportunities that fit within that earnings bracket.
- I knew that any business opportunity under consideration must have a proper training and support system in place. I was looking for manuals / instruction guides and a phone number that could be called to ask questions and get advice.
Ask yourself, do you really want to be the ‘fish on the end of the hook’ and, when they have ‘landed’ you, you are left high and dry to find your own way around the maze? Or are you looking for a system of training that will enable you to fast track yourself out of the gate?
- I was only interested in involving myself with business opportunities in growth markets. I wanted to create a long term ‘career’ for myself, and to do so it was necessary for me to be operating within a market that would not fizzle out soon after I had started earning money.
It is no good trying to trying to paddle upstream if the tide on your opportunity has already turned and is going the other way. All businesses have a period of growth, plateau and then, if a new idea is not launched, they will go into decline. Ask the question: When did the top earners have their best year income wise? This year, last year, 5 years ago?
Using these criteria served me well, and they can do the same for you. Essentially, it is just good common sense, but we all need reminding and refocusing before embarking on a new challenge, especially one that has the potential to change your life in such a big way.
